A QR code on the tables. Then what?

A QR code for wedding photos is now on half the tables in the country, and what it collects is usually a gallery: a feed the whole room can scroll, and a zip file to download a year later. Videmory puts the same code on the same tables and gives you a film of the day instead.

The code is the easy part. The question is what happens to the three hundred photos and ninety clips it collects. Here is how a gallery and a film differ, and what to tell your guests either way.

What a gallery gives you

Everything the guests added, in one place, sorted by who added it or by when it arrived. A live slideshow on a screen at the reception, if you want one. A zip file at the end. It is a real improvement on chasing people for photos. It is also still a pile of files, and somebody has to make something of it, usually nobody.

What a film gives you

The day in the order it happened, from the guests getting ready to the last dance, in sections you can name and move: the ceremony, the drinks, the speeches, the dance floor. A Full film to keep and a Highlight to send, in landscape for a television or portrait for a phone. The vows and the speeches with the sound the guests recorded. And the whole film to watch, before you pay for it.

What the guests see

In most galleries, everyone sees everything, with likes and comments, which is why the unflattering photo of your aunt is seen by the whole room. With Videmory, each guest sees only what they added. You see all of it, and you decide what goes in the film.

What to print on the card

Your names, the date, the code, and one line: “Add your photos and video of today.” Nothing about an app, because there is no app, and nothing about an account, because there is none. A card on each table and one at the bar is enough. Ask the celebrant or the MC to mention it once.

Does it replace the photographer?

No, and it is not trying to. Your photographer saw the two of you. Your guests saw everything else: the faces during the vows, the table at the back, the first five minutes on the dance floor from twelve angles. The guests’ film sits beside the professional one.

Your questions, answered

Do guests need an app or an account?

No. They scan the code on the table, type their name and add photos and video from their own phone. Nothing to install and no account, on an iPhone or an Android phone.

Can guests see each other’s photos?

No. Each guest sees only their own uploads. You, as the organiser, see everything.

Can guests add photos after the wedding?

Yes. The link keeps working after the day, for the guests who find their photos later.

Can we have it in portrait as well as landscape?

Yes. The Full film and the Highlight can be made in landscape for a screen or portrait for a phone.

What does it cost, and when can I use it?
