The photos are never in one place
Six people came. Six camera rolls went home. The good photograph of everybody on the boat is on somebody's phone who has not looked at it since, the video of the bus driver singing is on another, and the shared album has eleven of the two thousand photographs in it because uploading is a chore nobody does twice. A month later there is no record of the trip that any one of you could sit down and watch.
The collecting is the hard part, not the editing
This is the thing people underestimate. Editing a trip film is an evening. Getting everybody's originals into one place, in focus, at full resolution and with their dates intact is a fortnight of asking. Anything sent through a messaging app arrives shrunk and stripped of the date it was taken, which is exactly the information an edit needs to put the days in order.
One link, and everybody's originals
Videmory starts from that problem rather than from a timeline. The organiser creates the trip and shares one private link. Everybody opens it, picks their photos and clips, and they upload as the originals — full size, with the capture date still in them. Nobody installs anything, nobody makes an account, and nobody has to be talked through it on the phone.
The trip in the order it happened
Because the dates survive, the film can follow the trip: the first morning first and the last night last, wherever each photograph came from. Six people's cameras become one account of the same week, which is the thing a shared album cannot do however many photographs go into it.
Then it is a film, not a folder
At the end you have something you can put on a television at somebody's house, or send to the group chat, or keep. Not four hundred files and a good intention.

Your questions, answered
How do people send their photos?
They open the link you send them, on whatever phone they already have, and choose the photos and videos they want to add. There is no app to install and no account to create, which is the difference between four people contributing and one person chasing everybody for a fortnight.
Does it matter that everyone's phone clock was on a different setting?
Not much. Videmory sorts by the date and time each camera recorded, and a group that crossed time zones together usually still lands in the right order because everybody crossed them together. Where a photo has no reliable date at all it is kept and placed after the dated ones rather than dropped.
What about the person who took four hundred photos of the same church?
Add them. The film is built to a length you choose, and the edit paces and selects from what it is given rather than playing everything at the same weight. You are not curating on behalf of the group before you start.
Can everybody get a copy?
Yes. The organiser buys the film once and it is a file — send it to the group, put it on a television, keep it. There is no per-person charge and nobody else needs an account to watch it.
Is it private?
Only people with the link can add to the trip, and nothing is public. Nobody's camera roll is read: each person picks the files they want to send, and nothing else leaves their phone.
